The DAIL-500 interfaces compatible AC-operated displacement sensors with PLCs, data acquisition systems and indicators. It supplies sensor excitation and converts the differential secondary signal into a DC output proportional to position. 4-, 5- or 6-wire LVDT connections are supported subject to the sensor winding arrangement and approved connection drawing.
2. Choose the output for your system
| Output | Receiver input | Typical use |
| 0–5 V / 0–10 V | Unipolar voltage | Maps the calibrated measuring travel to a positive voltage range |
| ±5 V | Bipolar voltage | Measures displacement in either direction about a calibrated center |
| 4–20 mA | Passive current input | Active sourcing output; no external loop supply required. |
3. Low-distortion signal conditioning
Sine-wave excitation with THD below 0.2% helps limit excitation-related distortion. Phase-sensitive synchronous demodulation extracts the position-dependent signal, while low-pass filtering reduces residual carrier ripple and high-frequency noise.
4. Protective metal enclosure
The metal enclosure provides mechanical protection and electromagnetic shielding for machinery, automated equipment and OEM test platforms. The IP67 rating applies to the correctly assembled enclosure with the specified seals, connectors and cable entries.
5. Typical Applications
- Machine and actuator position monitoring
- Automotive suspension and pedal travel
- Cylinder stroke and valve position measurement
- Structural displacement monitoring
- Component and materials testing
- OEM measurement and control systems

Primary impedance must be evaluated at the selected excitation frequency. Confirm the sensor’s drive requirements with Royuen; the stated impedance range does not imply that every excitation setting supports every sensor in that range.
FSO means the calibrated output span: 5 V for 0–5 V, 10 V for ±5 V or 0–10 V, and 16 mA for 4–20 mA. These spans define percentage-based output specifications.
Use the supplied outline and terminal drawings for mounting and electrical connections. Performance specifications apply to the selected configuration; excitation loading and output bandwidth affect noise and response.

7. Setup and integration
7.1 Match the conditioner to the sensor
On-board hardware controls allow adjustment without software or programming tools. Coarse gain selection and fine SPAN adjustment match sensor sensitivity and measuring travel. ZERO sets the output at the selected displacement reference. PHASE matches detection to the response of the sensor and cable.
7.2 Multiple modules
For a supported master/slave configuration, synchronization coordinates excitation timing between modules to reduce beat-frequency interference. Use the approved synchronization connection drawing and specified compatible modules.
7.3 Connection essentials
Use the supplied terminal drawing for power, excitation, secondary and output connections. Confirm the winding arrangement before connecting a 4-, 5- or 6-wire sensor. Connect the active current output to a passive receiving input; do not add an external loop supply. Follow the specified grounding and shield-termination arrangement.
7.4 Calibration procedure
1). Select the configuration. Confirm the sensor excitation, primary impedance, full-scale secondary output, cable length and measuring travel. Select the output range, bandwidth and coarse gain.
2). Establish a stable reference. Connect the final sensor, cable and receiving load. Apply power and allow readings to stabilize. Set ZERO for the chosen displacement reference.
3). Adjust phase. For a centered setup, move to approximately 70–80% of one half-range. Adjust PHASE to maximize the magnitude of the output change relative to its center-position baseline. Preserve polarity and avoid saturation.
4). Set the span. Apply a known endpoint displacement and adjust SPAN to the required output. Recheck the reference and both endpoints; repeat zero and span adjustments as needed. Verify the current output separately when used.
5). Verify the installation. Check intermediate positions in both travel directions with the final cable and load. Record the sensor, supply, output range and calibration conditions.

7.5 System performance
Overall measurement accuracy includes the sensor, conditioner, cable, excitation loading and calibration. A sensor-and-conditioner calibration result does not establish conditioner-only nonlinearity. Verify the complete installed measurement channel over its intended travel and operating conditions.
8. Ordering information
Specify DAIL-500, the sensor model and winding diagram, measuring travel, sensitivity, excitation requirements and primary impedance. Include the required output, receiver impedance or loop resistance, cable length, response speed, operating environment and mounting arrangement. Identify any synchronization requirement.
